Our program serves Joplin, MO and our non-residential program serves both boys and girls.
Christian Counseling
Biblical based, pastoral style counseling is provided to both resident and non-resident teens. Weekly parent educational classes and small group interaction along with parent counseling are part of the counseling program. Since our goal is re-integration of teens with their families, parental involvement with the program is critical.
Education
Teens in the residential program attend school here on campus and participate in an individually designed education format where one on one tutoring is used to facilitate a renewed confidence in learning. Education continues past the regular school hours and integrates into all aspects of residential life.
Life Skills
Teens in the residential program learn everything from housekeeping, laundry and gardening to creative arts, vocational skills, hobbies and athletics. Volunteers can come and share theirs life skills in formats ranging from short or long term commitments to one night a week or month to a Saturday or series of Saturday extended sessions.
Duration
The non-resident counseling program can continue as long as all parties feel the results are positive and beneficial. The residential programs last 8 – 18 months as the teens work through a series of phases, each with it’s own set of objectives. As they progress from phase to phase the level of responsibility increases as well as the levels of their privileges and family visitation time, building toward reuniting of the teen and parents.
Success
The issue here becomes, what is the standard for measurement of success? One thing is certain, each teen will leave here better than they were when they arrived. Nationally, the majority of the teens are reunited with their families and nearly all profess a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We plan to do a variety of things to evaluate academic and emotional health progress and will share that data as it becomes available.
